Samsung SCH U740 Alias Cell Phone

Product Description

Released for Verizon Wireless, the Samsung SCH-U740 offers form and function. Replacing the multi-device syndrome by ingeniously blending the best of a mobile phone, personal data assistant (PDA) and email messenger in one easy-to-use compact device, users can use the SCH-U740 two ways as it opens in portrait mode to take and make calls and switches to landscape mode to type messages. The dual-band device is a truly essential entertainment business tool, with advanced features such as a built-in 1.3-megapixel camera, Bluetooth, and VCAST Video and Music. The SCH-U740 also takes advantage of a 262K-color display to provide an impressive 176 x 220 pixels.

Pros:  Light weight, thin, sensor buttons, GREAT camera, screen, looks.

Cons:  Hard to first get used to, but really easy once you do. I got this phone as an update and let me tell you, it is the most AMAZING phone EVER!! i thought the env was way too big so i got this cause i am a texting machine! it was at first hard to get used to the buttons, but honestly after a day, it was all ingraved in my head. It gets no fingerprints unlike the chocolate, and still has music and all the looks and style of any other phone. The speaker phone is GREAT! it is clear and the phone has a lot of memory to store all of your favorite photos or music. It also has a flash which comes VERY much in handy. All in all, this phone is worth the day to get used to, and at 100 bucks, it is a bargain!!!

Pros:  Full Keyboard, still has flip, looks amazing

Cons:  keyboard takes a little getting used to becasue the keyboard is small. i got this phone for 70 bucks. i love the full keyboard, and you get v cast and the internet for a month for free which is nice. texting is so easy and so is calling, that was why i got this over then envy, when im on the phone i like it to actually reach my mouth and not have the speaker be on my cheek. oh yeah and this is SUPERR thin. the pictures are ok, and the video is only 15 seconds but its all still good. buy it.

Great overall, lacking some features.

Pros:  Small, Light, qwerty keyboard, Nav system

Cons:  Texting takes a while, VERY Fragile. After using this phone for about a month I have only 1 or 2 real complaints about it. I love so many other features I'm just gonna suck it up though! I switched from a Palm Treo 650.

The issues I have with the SCH-U470 is the lack if a "recent texts" feature. My treo had a window that popped up when you composed a new text or placed a new call that would show you the 10 most dialed or most texted contacts. This was so useful, it really sucks not having this feature. It takes forever to compose a text message with this phone! It takes an average of 10 key presses to compose a text!?!? There is no way to assign a shortcut key for a new text message, only for the inbox!
The other issue I have is when you "reply" to a text message you cant see the message you are replying to! The phone only shows you the message you are currently composing! These are pretty annoying oversights by Samsung especially considering the emphasis they put on texting with this phone? Oh well, the good still outweighs the bad so I'll keep it until handspring comes out with a treo worth buying.

Pros:  Overall look, full keyboard, thin, lightweight

Cons:  A little tricky to use, but easy once you get use to it I love this phone I got it almost three weeks ago & was so happy that they came out with an all black one cuz the gold was kinda cheesie to me. I liked the whole aspect of the dual flip and the camera was great. But, it was a tad bit hard to figure out at first but now I'm a pro.

Pros:  v-cast,great mem-dual flip ,

Cons:  15 sec video, record time BEST PHONE I EVER OWNED first of all i loved the picture quality right down to prints the micro sd card easily goes into the laptop and your videos and pics show up in under 3 secs.with all kinds of editing tools. And the picture quality from plugging the micro sd card into a color printer is amazing. The dual flip is great for texting or talking seperating the two functions. The v-cast music player is great with clear sounds and easy use. overall dont pass it up if your a text master .I went into the store to buy the envy and saw the aliasand asked about it the sales people told me not to buy it cause it looks fragile and i would say if u have young kids get insurance if u decide to buy..so i weighed the options and the size and purchassed the winner by a mile the ALIAS sorry Envy..

Pros:  good texting, nice style

Cons:  clunky browser, poor camera I got this phone back in September as I needed a wed phone, it does its job for an entry level web phone and thus the price. Great keyboard for texting, it does take a little getting use to. But for the most part is a good phone. Camera is not so great, much better ones out there. Web browser is not a good. Can't set up your own home page, set to a Verizon preloaded page that is not useful.
