Pros:  programmable

Cons:  carafe does not pour water and coffee go everywhere. Filter basket does not sit well on carafe and sometimes the sneak-a-cup feature is activated causing coffee to over flow the filter basket--what a mess. Hot plate begins to rust almost immediately and B&D will not honor warranty. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY!!

Pros:  Makes a decent cup of coffee

Cons:  cheap plastic body leaks It's hard to find a good, reliable, long-lasting coffee maker these days. I have a black model, with a gold basket replacing the paper filters. I've had problems with the auto shut-off not working correctly and flooding the basket; grounds floated everywhere and it ran onto the counter. But the biggest problem is leakage. My coffee maker leaks when I put in water and let it sit overnight with the timer on. I noticed that I only got about half a cup, and then found a puddle of water on the countertop.

This is the top-rated coffee maker in Consumer Reports, but I found it to not be durable.

Pros:  Programable, easy to clean

Cons:  Timer doesn't work I purchased this coffee pot from Sears, the first day it worked fine. On the second day, the timer wouldn't work. I would set the time, and 3 hours later it would be off. I reset it and the same thing happened. I returned it to Sears and got a refund.

Pros:  It made coffee, Good caraff

Cons:  It quit after a year It has to be pulled from under cupboards to open and remove filter. A few grounds end up in the water reservoir most times it's used. The on/off switch failed early on and had to be pressed very hard to turn it on or off.
I really don't know why Consumre Reports rated it so high.

Poor quality, rude warranty support, bad product

Pros:  Great features, simple design

Cons:  Will quit in a few months, rude warranty support I bought my first one and loved it. After a while, it developed internal leaks. I did not keep the reciept, so I bought another. After 3 months, the thermostatic switch quit and unit would not heat up. I was concerned that the warranty might require shipping expenses and would cost more than the product was worth, so I called their service people just to find out how to get warranty service. They would not answer any questions until I gave them my name, phone number, address, etc. After they got all that info, they said they had no record of me and still refused to answer my question. I returned the coffeemaker to the store and got an exchange unit. The new unit has problems right out of the box. It won't program, has a screwy display, mal-functioning clock, will only brew coffee manually. I expect it to quit in a month or two just like the others. I have begun the warranty support process via Email, so far, no response.

Good Features while it worked.

Pros:  Good features

Cons:  Quit working after 4 months I bought this coffer maker because Consumer Reports rated it as a best buy. Also the store offered a $25 rebate. A month after we got the check the coffee maker quit working. We bought a Black & Decker Blender last year and it was DOA. I think there is a real quality control issue with Black & Decker home appliances. Will not purchase a Black and Decker product again.
